Women in the 50's
Were housewives happy with their lives?
Many were happy but they believed they could do more and could be happier. This is evident with the amount of married women who work increasing from 20% to over 30% by the end of the 50's showing that they could be more happy by actually working for a wage. This also comes from the fact of a feeling that during the middle of the 20th century there was a dissatisfaction among women meaning they felt they could do more as in get a well paying job.

Were women in the 1950's just staying at home?
At the beginning of the 50's this was somewhat the case with only 20% wives going to work however through the decade that number would increase to 30% of women were working and also once the men had retired at night they would go out with their friends and watch a movie.

Documents B and C say women were staying at home, but documents A and D say otherwise. Who should we believe?
Most likely A and D as they provide information from research while the other two are most likely trying to tell women that the majority of women are not going out rather staying at home and being the perfect housewife.

Do you think African American, Latina, Asian American, and women from other minority groups had similar experiences depicted in these documents?
No because as in previous readings other minority groups were heading towards the cities while whites were heading out of the cities and into the suburbs.
